Smoke alarms: the 1 January 2027 deadline

Rental properties in Queensland already have to meet the full smoke alarm standard: photoelectric, interconnected, less than 10 years old, in every bedroom, in hallways connecting bedrooms to the rest of the home, and on every storey. The landlord must test and clean the alarms within 30 days before each tenancy starts, including renewals. From 1 January 2027 the same rules apply to every Queensland home, so trades will get busy. Safety switches

All power point circuits in Queensland rental properties must be protected by a safety switch. We check, test and install them, and upgrade old switchboards where needed. See safety switches.
