Exhaust fan installation on Brisbane’s northside and Moreton Bay

Mould on the bathroom ceiling, mirrors that stay fogged long after a shower, or an old fan that rattles and moves no air? We install and replace exhaust fans in bathrooms, ensuites, toilets and laundries, and wire in rangehoods, across Brisbane’s northside and Moreton Bay.

What we install

  • Bathroom and ensuite exhaust fans, ceiling or wall mounted.
  • Toilet and laundry fans, especially in rooms with no window.
  • 3-in-1 units that combine an exhaust fan, light and heater.
  • Replacement fans for old, noisy or failed units.
  • Timers, humidity sensors and separate switching, so the fan keeps running after you leave the room or turns on by itself when it’s steamy.
  • Rangehood wiring for new kitchens and replacements. See kitchen renovation electrical.

Ducted outside, not into the roof

A lot of older fans just blow damp air into the roof space. In our humid climate that moisture sits on the timber and insulation and can lead to mould, rot and smells. For new installs we duct the fan to the outside through the roof, eaves or wall, and it’s what building rules now expect in new homes. If your existing fan vents into the roof, we can usually duct it out when we replace it.

Signs you need a new exhaust fan

  • Mould or black spots on the ceiling, grout or around the window
  • Mirrors and windows stay fogged well after a shower
  • Peeling paint or swelling around the bathroom door and ceiling
  • The fan is noisy, rattles, or barely moves a tissue held up to it
  • A bathroom, toilet or laundry with no window and no fan

What affects the price

  • New install or replacement. Swapping a fan into an existing opening is simpler than cutting in a new one and running power.
  • Ducting. How far the duct has to run to get outside, and whether it goes through the roof, eaves or wall.
  • Roof access. Single-storey homes with roof access are straightforward. Downstairs bathrooms in two-storey homes and flat or raked ceilings take more work.
  • The unit. A basic fan, a quieter high-flow fan or a 3-in-1 heater unit.
  • Switching and controls, like a run-on timer or humidity sensor.

Send us a photo of the room, the ceiling and the existing fan if there is one. That usually lets us quote without a site visit.

Exhaust fan FAQs

Do I need an exhaust fan if my bathroom has a window?
Not always, but most people don’t open the window every shower, especially in winter. A fan is the reliable way to get the moisture out.

How long should the fan run after a shower?
About 10 to 15 minutes is a good rule. A run-on timer or humidity sensor does it for you.

Can you wire the fan to the light switch?
Yes, but a separate switch or a timer is usually better, so the fan can keep running after you turn the light off.

How long does it take?
A straight replacement is usually a short job. A new fan with ducting to outside takes longer. We’ll give you a time frame with your quote.

Can I install an exhaust fan myself?
No. In Queensland, connecting an exhaust fan to the power is electrical work and must be done by a licensed electrician.
