Test and tag and RCD testing for Brisbane northside and Moreton Bay businesses
Faulty leads and appliances are one of the most common causes of electric shock at work. We test and tag portable electrical equipment and test safety switches (RCDs) for offices, shops, workshops, warehouses, aged care sites and community groups across Brisbane’s northside and Moreton Bay.

Test and tag (AS/NZS 3760)
- Visual inspection and electrical testing of leads, power boards, appliances and tools
- Each item tagged with the test date and next due date
- A register of every item tested, with pass and fail results
- Failed items tagged out of service and listed, with repair or replacement options
- Testing intervals set to your environment. AS/NZS 3760 ranges from every 3 months on building sites to longer intervals for low-risk offices.
RCD (safety switch) testing
- Push-button testing of safety switches at the switchboard and portable RCDs
- Trip-time testing with calibrated equipment, so you know each RCD cuts the power fast enough
- Results recorded alongside your test and tag register
- Faulty or missing safety switches flagged, with a quote to fix them
Queensland’s Electrical Safety Regulation 2013 sets specific testing requirements for some workplaces, including construction, manufacturing and amusement venues. If you’re not sure what applies to your site, we’ll go through it with you.
Switchboard checks while we’re there
We’ll also give your switchboard a once-over: missing safety switches, damaged covers, poor labelling, signs of overheating. You get a short list of anything that needs attention. See safety switches and switchboard upgrades.
Test and tag FAQs
How often does equipment need testing?
It depends on where it’s used. Equipment on building sites, in workshops and anywhere it gets knocked about needs testing more often than equipment in an office. We’ll recommend a schedule and remind you when it’s due.
Do you test residents’ or staff members’ own appliances?
Yes. In aged care and shared workplaces, personal appliances brought on site can be tested and added to the register.
What happens to items that fail?
They’re tagged out of service so nobody uses them. Many can be repaired, like a new plug or lead. Otherwise they need replacing.
Can you combine this with emergency lighting testing?
Yes. One visit, one contractor, one set of reports. See emergency and exit lighting.
