EV charger installation on Brisbane’s northside
Got an EV, or one on the way? We’ll get a charger in your garage, carport or driveway so you leave home with a full battery every morning. We’re licensed electricians based in Brendale, and we install home EV chargers across Brisbane’s northside and Moreton Bay.
We supply and install chargers from BYD, Tesla, Mercedes-Benz and BMW, or we can install a charger you’ve already bought.

Wall charger or portable charger?
Hardwired wall charger. Mounted on the wall and wired back to your switchboard on its own circuit. On single phase power, a 7kW charger adds roughly 40–50km of range per hour, so most cars are full overnight with time to spare. This is what we recommend for most homes.
Portable charger on a dedicated power point. A lot of cars come with a portable charger. Plugging it into a normal power point that’s shared with other appliances isn’t ideal. We can run a dedicated circuit and power point for it. It’s slower than a wall charger, but it’s cheaper to install and suits people who don’t drive far each day.
Not sure which suits you? Tick “Not sure” on the form and we’ll recommend one based on your car, your driving and your switchboard.
Already got solar or a battery?
Then you’re in a good spot. With the right charger and setup, you can soak up spare solar during the day instead of exporting it for a few cents. Tell us your system size, inverter brand and battery (if you have one) in the form, and we’ll work out what’s compatible before we quote, not after.
What affects the price
Every install is a bit different. These are the things that move the price the most:
- Distance from the switchboard to the charger. The longer the cable run, the more cable and labour. This is the biggest factor.
- Your switchboard. Older boards (especially pre-1990s homes with ceramic fuses) may need an upgrade to safely take an EV charger. See our switchboard upgrades page.
- Single or three phase power. Three phase allows faster charging, if your car can take it. See our 3 phase power upgrades page.
- Where it’s going. Attached garage is simplest. Detached garages, carports and driveways can mean trenching or conduit.
- Units and townhouses. You’ll need body corporate approval before we start, and the run back to your meter can be longer.
Send us a photo of your switchboard and the spot where the charger’s going, and we can usually give you an accurate quote without a site visit.
How it works
- Fill in the form below. It asks the questions we’d ask on site, so we can quote properly.
- We send you a quote. If anything’s unclear from the photos, we’ll call you or book a quick site visit.
- We install it. Dedicated circuit, safety switch protection, charger mounted and tested. A standard install takes about 3 hours.
- You get your paperwork. A certificate of testing and safety for the work, and we’ll show you how to use the charger and app.

EV charger FAQs
How much does an EV charger installation cost?
It mostly comes down to the cable run from your switchboard and whether the switchboard needs work. Fill in the form with a couple of photos and we’ll give you a firm price.
Can I just use the charger that came with my car?
Yes. Portable chargers plug into a power point. We recommend a dedicated circuit for it rather than a shared power point, because an EV draws a lot of power for hours at a time.
Do I need three phase power?
No. Most homes charge on single phase and it’s plenty for overnight charging. Three phase only helps if your car can accept faster AC charging.
Will I need a switchboard upgrade?
Not always. Newer homes usually have room. Older boards, especially with ceramic fuses or no spare space, may need an upgrade first. A photo of your switchboard tells us straight away.
Can I charge from my solar?
Yes, with the right charger and setup. Tell us about your solar and battery in the form and we’ll recommend a compatible option.
I live in a unit or townhouse. Can I still get one?
Usually, yes. You’ll need body corporate approval first. Let us know where your meter and parking space are and we’ll work out the best way to get power there.
I bought my charger online. Will you install it?
Yes. Pop the brand and model in the form so we can check it before we quote.
