We are finding induction cooktops are very popular at the moment, but they do require larger circuits than traditional ceramic cook tops.
Induction cooktops may require a new dedicated circuit to be run back to the switchboard due to the nature of it being a more modern appliance and in some cases may even require a switchboard upgrade as well.
Cooktops and standalone ovens now also require an isolation switch separate to the appliances to isolate units. If you do not have one and require a replacement unit, one will have to be installed to meet the current code.
NOTE: If it is important to keep costs down, measure existing appliances first and buy the same size for bench top cut outs. Modification of benchtops can quickly blow out your budget, especially if it is a stone bench top.
